Use Hotel Amenities

No matter where you’re heading after saying “I do,” don’t carry along unnecessary items. Call the hotel for a list of room complimentaries. Hairdryers are standard, along with soap, shampoo, hair conditioner and lotion. Depending on the hotel, you may also be treated to complimentary items such as these.
  • Oral kits
  • Shaving Kits
  • Shoe Shine Kits
  • Sewing Kits
Also available are things like earbuds/headphones, dental floss and makeup remover. Different hotels also offer signature amenities, such as bath salts or take-home slippers and robes. Anything you don’t have to pack leaves more room for other items. It also means you have less to worry about at the airport.

Sports Prescription Glasses

Tropical islands are a popular honeymoon destination for many couples. If you’re heading to the beach, sports prescription sunglasses should be at the top of your packing list, especially if you’re planning to participate in water adventures, hiking or anything remotely athletic. Sports glasses are typically sturdier compared to regular sunglasses.

Waterproof Camera

Smartphones are fantastic for capturing memories, but you don’t want to take it along on the water, where it can be easily dropped and sink out of sight or sustain water damage and be useless. Invest in a waterproof camera that can catch all of the reef action while you’re snorkeling, kiteboarding or boating.

Versatile Clothing

Many people pack more clothes than needed. Choose versatile clothing instead, the kind that can double for both casual and formal wear with the addition of a jacket. Since you will have access to laundry, use it and wear same pants with a different shirt next day. Pack lightweight shoes that complement more outfits.

Packing Light is the Key

After the stress of planning a wedding, why not give yourself a break and make the honeymoon a more casual affair? Packing light—and remembering essentials such as sports prescription glasses—is the key to getting through airports, cabs and hotels in an orderly fashion that leaves you in a good mood for enjoying each other and your trip.
