Wedding Invitation Wording Samples

If you are writing a wedding invitation by hand, you might be looking for appropriate wording. Presented below are some samples and examples for marriage invitation wordings.

Although a wedding may be a traditional or a non-traditional one, writing and sending formal invitations is a must. In the non-traditional types of weddings, you can be more creative for the wordings used. However, in either of the cases, the basic structure of the invitation is more or less the same.

Etiquette
Following are some etiquette that one needs to follow when writing a wedding invitation.

  • The name of the hosts is written on the top. Usually the parents of the bride are the hosts, and same invitations are sent to guests of both the sides. The bride and the groom, themselves, can also be hosts to their own weddings.
  • Addressing wedding invitations is the most crucial aspect of the invitation. Make sure you know and write proper titles of the guest.
  • If it is a themed wedding, mention it clearly on the invitation card, along with information about the dress code (for both, men and women).
  • Similarly, details about the couple expecting gifts, not expecting gifts, invitation to children, etc., should be mentioned in the invitation. You can find details of those in the following samples.
  • Lastly, note that wedding invitations should also be sent to the immediate family (including parents) by post and to other guests as early as 6-8 weeks prior. RSVP is usually a must and also convenient for the hosts.

Apart from these formal wordings, you can also go for informal ones and have funny or poetic verses, using creative language. Rather than going for the ready-made ones, you can try having handmade wedding invitations, that are made in your style, your way. Good luck!
